CSS's success in this area is based on one of the most experienced protein science teams in the world and on our novel technologies developed to service our custom protein synthesis business. Our competitive advantage and established reputation, particularly in the field of more challenging syntheses, depend on CSS's continuing programme of research. CSS wishes to push forward the frontiers of protein science. The human genome has now been mapped, identifying about 30,000 genes. Now the world turns to analyzing the hundreds of thousands of related proteins, the carriers of the functions of good health or disease states. This new world is expected to lead to the identification and development of a plethora of therapeutic candidates. We will continue to develop our novel platform technologies, with the mission of applying such technologies to identify innovative therapeutic compounds with significant commercial potential.
